ELECTRONIC MUSIC

CRYSTAL WORLD II

chorale, quadrophonic (1984)

Crystal World II – Chorale is related to the musical and harmonic structure of Crystal World I. But all sounds in the piece are developed from the computer music software CHANT, which was originally developed in IRCAM to imitate the human voice. The very complex structure of the software includes many different parameters. These can be used in different ways in order to discover new sounds. For example, the percussion sounds in the piece are based on the imitation of the vocal glottis sound.
